Frequently Asked Questions

01  Are Leaders born or made?

Leadership is all about influencing, serving, and motivating others to achieve a common goal. Put in even simpler terms, the leader is the inspiration and director of the action. He or she is the point person in the organization with a combination of personality and skills which will propel others to follow.  This brings us to the most basic and most often-asked question in all leadership development, are great leaders born or made?

Some people believe that leaders are born with the set of skills to become successful leaders while others conclude that leadership can be learned. We believe, however, that every individual has their own area of talent and inclination for success. These attributes, the things that individuals are passionate about, are the reasons why every person can be a leader in their own area of interest and expertise.

02  Are men better leaders than women?

Both men and women have an opportunity to be excellent leaders in today's society. It is true that in some environments inequality plagues the stage of leadership, leaving men with more salaries and better benefits as a leader but this should not be accepted. Leadership characteristics have no preferences for gender or race, it is all about one's potential to cast a vision and command followers, simple.

03  When is the right time to become a leader?

Today is always the right time to be a leader, considering that leadership is not just about accepting a new position in a company or any other organization. Leadership begins with a personal awareness to impact change in ourselves or our surroundings. The call to leadership begins with an urge to serve and see others grow and reproduce. On the other hand, If you spend time supporting, guiding, and sharing your knowledge with those around you, giving them the opportunity to achieve success, and if you care about their well-being and do all you can to help them attain their own success, you are a leader.

04  What is the difference between a leader and a manager?

A manager is a person controlling or administering a business, while a leader is a person who causes others to go with him, by guiding and showing the way. According to John Sculley, "Leadership is often confused with other things, specifically management. As I see it, leadership revolves around vision, ideas, and direction, and has more to do with inspiring people as to direction and goals than with day-to-day implementation. One can't lead unless one can leverage more than his own capabilities . You have to be capable of inspiring other people to do things without actually sitting on top of them with a checklist - that's management, not leadership."

"The leader cuts a new path while the manager prunes it and makes it passable" - Leroy Hutchinson
